भारत में खाद्य एवं रसद विभाग खाद्यान्न और अन्य आवश्यक वस्तुओं की खरीद, वितरण और मूल्य निर्धारण के लिए जिम्मेदार है। विभाग सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली (पीडीएस) के के लिए भी जिम्मेदार है, जो eligible beneficiaries को सब्सिडी वाला खाद्यान्न प्रदान करता है।
भारत की आजादी के तुरंत बाद 1947 में खाद्य एवं रसद विभाग की स्थापना की गई थी। विभाग का मुख्य उद्देश्य भारत के सभी नागरिकों के लिए खाद्य सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करना है। यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि सभी नागरिकों को सस्ती कीमतों पर खाद्यान्न उपलब्ध हो, विभाग के पास देश भर में गोदामों और उचित मूल्य की दुकानों का एक नेटवर्क है।
खाद्य एवं रसद विभाग राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा अधिनियम (एनएफएसए) के कार्यान्वयन में भी भूमिका निभाता है, जिसे 2013 में लागू किया गया था। एनएफएसए भारत की 75% आबादी को खाद्य सुरक्षा की गारंटी देता है। विभाग एनएफएसए के तहत पात्र लाभार्थियों को सब्सिडी वाला खाद्यान्न उपलब्ध कराने के लिए जिम्मेदार है।
खाद्य एवं रसद विभाग सभी नागरिकों के लिए खाद्य सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के भारत सरकार के प्रयासों का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है। विभाग का कार्य यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए आवश्यक है कि सभी भारतीयों को किफायती भोजन उपलब्ध हो।
Khadya And Rasad Vibhag Duties

- खाद्यान्न की खरीद: विभाग विभिन्न तंत्रों के माध्यम से किसानों से खाद्यान्न खरीदता है, जिसमें government-to-government (जी2जी) सौदे, खुले बाजार में खरीद और बफर स्टॉक जारी करना शामिल है।
- खाद्यान्न का वितरण: विभाग उचित मूल्य की दुकानों (एफपीएस) और अन्य सरकारी एजेंसियों के नेटवर्क के माध्यम से खाद्यान्न वितरित करता है।
- खाद्यान्न का मूल्य निर्धारण: विभाग पीडीएस के माध्यम से बेचे जाने वाले खाद्यान्न की कीमतें निर्धारित करता है।
- एनएफएसए का कार्यान्वयन: विभाग एनएफएसए को लागू करने के लिए जिम्मेदार है, जो भारत की 75% आबादी को खाद्य सुरक्षा की गारंटी देता है।
- अन्य कार्य: विभाग कई अन्य कार्य भी करता है, जैसे आवश्यक वस्तुओं की कीमतों की निगरानी करना, सूखा प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में खाद्य सहायता प्रदान करना और राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा मिशन (एनएफएसएम) का प्रबंधन करना।
खाद्य एवं रसद विभाग एक बड़ा और जटिल संगठन है। इसमें 100,000 से अधिक लोगों का स्टाफ है और इसका बजट रुपये से अधिक है। 1 लाख करोड़. विभाग का मुख्यालय नई दिल्ली में है और सभी राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में इसके क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय हैं।
